Affordable wine carbon footprinting from Aura Sustainability

United Kingdom’s retailers are not yet asking for product carbon footprints, or insisting on carbon labels, but they may well in the future, according to consultancy service Aura Sustainability. The organisation’s Barefoot First Steps has been designed to provide wine producers that sell to these retailers a cost-effective way to internally analyse their wine’s life cycle carbon footprint.

Bordeaux celebrates a fantastic four-day festival in celebration of wine every year. This event includes a parade of Bacchus floats, wine tastings, tours of vineyards and wine barrel races. It is a great occasion for food and wine lovers. 'Vintage Grapes' an educational exhibition is a fantastic place to learn about the art of wine growing. The spectacular fireworks display that illuminates the night sky marks the end of the celebrations on the final day. The festival starts on 24th June 2011 and ends on 27th June 2011.

It is a beautiful sunny wintery Wellington day. I am waiting to meet with the owner of TOHU. A Maori Wine maker based in one of the wine regions of New Zealand.

While waiting, I have decided to taste one of their reds. It is...... surprise surprise..... their Pinot! 2008. It has a bright and fragrant nose of Cherries and a touch of wild thyme. The elegant silky palate has sweet wild berries and more cherries and spicy Oak melded together delivers persistence and length. I have yummy New Zealand cheese to dance with this great New Zealand Pinot Noir.
